This site first started out on Freewebs.com, as Silme Hiril, in April of 2004. It had a premade layout, little content, and few visitors. I wanted to make more of my site though.

So, on July 18, 2004, I moved my site to http://dome-of-stars.net (now aquiyonda.net), where it was hosted by the wonderful Iris. I had someone make a layout for me, and I fixed all of the content until I was satisfied. Though much of it was exactly the same as everybody else's, it had it's unique parts. Eventually, I grew tired of that layout, so I asked Evenstar(webmistress of Light of Stars), if she could make free layouts. The first one she made was an Aragorn and Arwen layout, so I took it and used it.

The site continued to progress as I opened other sites. Soon, though, I was wishing for my very own domain name. I would go to websites and search for domain names that were not registered. Eventually I chose 'http://glasslotus.com'. However, it was not until September 19, 2004, that I actually got it.

When I opened Silme Hiril on it's new address (http://glasslotus.com/silme), I was very excited. But after getting some reviews, I began to look at the site with a critical eye again. I put the site on hiatus for about a week. When I finally reopened it, it was completely redone. It had a new layout, new navigation, new content, a new address (http://glasslotus.com/heril), and a new name: Heril Êlgalad. After that, I was to revamp the site two more times, the first making only minor changes, and the second, totally remaking it, giving it more of a poetic feel. That is how it stands today.

About the Name
The site's first name, Silme Hiril, was a combination of Quenya and Sindarin, which I first thought to mean 'Lady of Moonlight'. However, isilmë is moonlight, and Silme Hiril actually meant 'Lady of Starlight'. There was much dispute over the meaning of the word silmë. It's true meaning is this: it is a Quenyan word for 'starlight', and can also be used poetically for 'silver'.

Heril Êlgalad is the correct Sindarin translation for 'Lady of Starlight', referring to Aragorn and Arwen's first meeting under the stars, when Arwen was said to have starlight in her eyes.
